NAYLOR - BENTLEY

Alice Lillian NAYLOR was born in Brunswick, Victoria on 09.07.1901 after her mother travelled from Brown Hill where they lived near Kalgoorlie. All the other children were born in Kallaroo, or on the Paringa Lease (Brown Hill) Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, except for Alma Mary who was also born in Victoria.

Alice Lillian contracted Meningitis when she was 9 years old and after her recovery would not go back to the Brown Hill School as she could not remember anyone there so she went to the Catholic school in Kalgoorlie. She had no recollection from birth to 9 years the rest of her life.

Alice Lillian NAYLOR Married 05.04.1921 Albert James BENTLEY born 02.06.1896 Canning Mills. They were divorced on 26.06.1940. They had 4 Children:-

    born 1926 in Colac, Vic.
    Married 1980 Keith Norman Grant born 1930 in
    Casterton Victoria.


Albert James BENTLEY died 09.10.1973.

Alice Lillian BENTLEY died 29.08.1993 in Perth, Western Australia. Her ashes are placed in her Mothers grave in Kalgoorlie.

In the early days the family lived on the mouth of the Murchison River near Kalbarri. Alma recalls she and her brothers collecting buckets of oysters as they each got a pair of new shoes per bucket of oysters. The size of the buckets was never discussed.
